Dracaena with thrips. How do I get rid of them?
Hey,
I see that my plant has sort of...thrips 🙁
And 4 of my plants at home also have them, I don't know what to do.
I've tried neem oil with green soap (sprayed or applied with a sponge), just green soap (putting the foam on the leaves) in all of them, and putting them on quarantine... all except for this one (just found out that she has them), I don't know what else to do 🙁
Can you help me?
Thanks!

Thank you for contacting us! It's sad to hear that your plants have attracted thrips.
Thrips as a species is very hardy, despite everything. Because of this, doing treatments and dealing with them can be quite a long-winded battle of attrition.
Don't give up, though. I'd suggest continuing with the treatments. I'd also suggest checking over the mixtures you're using so that they're in the right amount. If you're using green or yellow dish soap, mix 1-2 tbsp for 1 litre of water. If you're using neem-oil then you can use 1 tsp neem oil and 1/2 tsp soap for 1 litre of water.
On a particularly stubborn case of thrips, you can mix 2 ml denatured alcohol ("t-sprit") into the previous soap (not neem) mixture.
When treating, make sure to cover all the areas of the plant. Both on the leaves and under, as well as any nooks and crannies. Afterward, you can place each plant with some distance of one another to encourage airflow between them.
If none of these mixtures work, you can try to fight fire with fire - or bugs with bugs, in this case! These natural predators of thrips then eat either eggs or grown adults, working as a natural deterrent. Two such insects are Orius majusculus and Amblyseius cucumeris. You can purchase these insects online through various sites. Remember to clean off your plants of any soap and neem-oil residue before starting this new treatment.
Good luck!
