Drying palm tree

Hi,
My palm tree is sort of drying out a lot 🙁
The leaves are starting to look yellow/green and they are like...roasted.
I make sure it gets enough water (like every 2-3 days, because of the heating at home) and I put it on a growing lamp every 2-3 days... but it keeps losing leaves, because they start to dry out and wither.
What should I do??
Thanks!

  • Hello!

Over all, I think your Yucca-palm looks quite healthy. With time, the lower leaves of yucca-palms start to dry out and wither, so once they're dry it shouldn't be that hard to remove them with a gentle tug.

I am however a little worried regarding the light given to it, as it looks a bit peaky. Yucca palms are sun lovers and need as much sun as possible - a southern-facing window might get it through the winter but I'd still suggest extra grow-lights at 1 dm distance from the plant for 14-16 hours a day if it starts to get lighter at the top.

Remember that this plant can stand some drought but can't really stand too much moisture. A plant generally have an easier time to get better after a dry spell than rot from too much water!

I'd also suggest taking a closer look at the leaves, as some look almost raspy. This could be a sign of pests, probably thrips. They're very small, so it might require a close and careful examination, but better safe than sorry!

    Hope this helps!
