Black spots in my Peace Lily

I have a peace Lily and one of the leaves has a black spot on it. I checked and I cannot see any thrips on it (front or back). It is just one leave (for now...)
Aso, I see 1-2 leaves look wrinkle-ish.. not sure what's happening 😪. What should I do?

thanks!

  • Hello Adriana!

If it's only one leaf, it could be just a weak leaf taking some damage due to the autumn weather. It should be fine to just remove the leaf with a clean pair of scissors.

That being said, the leaves being black might also be a sign of overwatering or a fungal infection caused by overwatering. Carefully check the roots or whether the soil is very wet - if the roots have started to rot then you should try and remove as much water as possible, as well as any rotting roots, before letting the soil dry out a little extra before the next watering.

Now during autumn, plants drink a whole lot less water due to less light. As such, be sure to check whether your plants need watering before giving them more, as they will need less water overall during this period.

You also wrote to us in another post, Monstera's leaves getting yellow, where I was worried about thrips. You mention not seeing any, but as I worried there might be some present on your monstera, would there be a risk of the plants standing close enough for them to spread. Keep an eye out, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that your plants get better soon!
